Stirling University Freedom of Information Request

As you may have heard, the tobacco giant Philip Morris is trying to use Freedom of Information laws to compel the Centre for Tobacco Control Research, part of the Institute for Social Marketing at the University of Stirling, to give it all the documentation concerning their confidential research with children and their smoking habits.

UPDATE from the Centre of Tobacco Control Research, 30 November 2011:  “The deadline has now passed for PMI to appeal our third refusal to give them the information they were demanding. This effort to get access to our work is therefore at an end. It is possible they will start a completely new demand, but this seems unlikely.”

Read about it in The Independent.
